Our Story
HATCH began as a simple idea:
Connect partners with surplus protein to families who need it most. What began with eggs quickly grew as hunger relief partners recognized the value of a reliable, protein-focused supply chain. Over the past decade, that model has expanded from a single state to over 43 states and 120+ food banks—and HATCH delivers chicken, beef, pork, and more in addition to eggs. To date, HATCH has delivered more than 102 million meals annually and helped families save over $50 million in food costs.

Hatch is a nutrition-focused nonprofit that connects protein producers, food banks, and donors to build a reliable supply chain for animal protein. The model is self-sustaining, based on shared value: Producers gain a trackable, purpose-driven outlet for surplus supply, food banks gain consistent protein at or below budget, donors gain measurable results, and communities gain the holistic benefits of healthy, well-nourished families.

How we got here
What began as a focused solution has grown into a national model strengthening nutrition security for families across the country.
2015
HATCH launches with a focus on egg distribution to food insecure families.
2018
Model expands to regional food banks and early supply partners.
2020
Protein supply needs spike during the pandemic. HATCH strengthens logistics and storage capacity.
2021
HATCH begins delivering additional proteins including chicken, turkey, beef, and pork.
2023
National expansion reaches thirty eight states and more than one hundred food banks.
2024
HATCH delivers more than one hundred million meals in a single year and records more than fifty million dollars saved for families.
2025
We delivered over 100 million meals for the first time in 2025.
2026 & Beyond
HATCH will continue to work towards its 1-2-3 Vision: delivering 1M protein-rich meals a day, doubling the amount of animal protein available in the charitable food system, and tripling awareness around the benefits of animal protein in a healthy diet.

HATCH is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations without donor instructions are treated as unrestricted support. The organization publishes annual reports and financial disclosures to maintain accountability and trust.
